He Wants You
by Rachel Renee Griggs
When you’re single, it is natural to desire human love, companionship or marriage. Sometimes you may feel that something is missing from your life because you do not have that significant other to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences with. You wonder how long it will be before you are resting in the arms of your soul mate on a Saturday night, rather than watching movies alone or entertaining yourself on the internet in your spare time.
Even if you immensely enjoy those relaxing moments alone, it is natural to yearn for someone to share your life with. The Lord says it is a good thing to desire a mate – Proverbs 18:22 says that “he who finds a wife finds a good thing!” God recognized the human need for companionship and brought Adam and Eve together. However, God wants you to know that the loneliness you experience will never be fully satisfied by another human being. No human relationship can substitute relationship with God. The emptiness you feel inside was placed by the Lord to alert you that you need more of Him. That space in your heart is designed for God and He is the only one who can fill and satisfy it.
Do not allow your desire for a mate discourage you; rather let that desire propel you into the Master’s arms for His divine love and comfort. He is calling out for a greater level of intimacy with you. He wants you to know that the empty, lonely feeling you experience is your heart crying out for your one perfect Love, the King of Kings. He wants to be your lover, your everything, and the one you run to. He wants to hear about the details of your day, the innermost secrets of your heart, the hurts, the disappointments, the questions you have about the things you don’t understand. Yes, He knows all and sees all but He desires a relationship with you. He wants to have conversations with you, He wants to commune with you as He did with Adam in the Garden of Eden. He even sacrificed His only Son so that you can have that intimacy with Him again.
He wants to hear about all the things that concern you, even that broken fingernail or the pair of shoes you noticed in the window or that coat that you need. Ask Him how to handle frustrations at work and at home. Tell Him about the desires of your heart. Tell Him about your fears and insecurities. Tell Him about how you think you missed His plan today. Tell Him how much you love Him. Give Him your whole heart.
The Lord will always listen and He will always have an answer for you, even if it is just to hold you in His loving Arms and let His peace wash over you. Give yourself to Him and when you lie in your bed at night, listen as He whispers in your ear about how much He loves you, and how beautiful and precious you are to Him. He will talk to you about the wonderful plans He has for you and give you hope and peace.
Trust that the Lord knows exactly what you need. Seek Him first and you will find that He will bless you beyond what you can ask or think. If you trust the Lord to send you a companion, He will send you the right one. The more time you spend with God, the more you will know how it feels to be truly loved. No man will be able to fool you with anything less because you will know Love. You will not have to worry about being lonely and alone. You will be at peace because you are already complete in your relationship with Love.
